What to Wear for Your Fine Art Portrait Session


Your portrait should feel timeless and cinematic. Follow these tips to ensure you look stunning in your session:

1. Choose Timeless Fabrics & Styles

  • Flowy dresses, rich velvet, or textured fabrics.

  • Earthy tones, jewel tones, or classic neutrals (no bright/neon colors).

  • Minimal or vintage-inspired accessories.

2. Avoid Modern Logos & Busy Patterns

  • Solid colors or delicate patterns work best.

  • Avoid clothing with large logos or graphics.

3. Consider Layers & Textures

  • Cloaks, shawls, and draped fabrics add a painterly feel.

  • Lace, silk, and embroidery photograph beautifully.

4. Grooming & Personal Touches

  • Ensure hands and nails are clean and polished.

  • Hair should be styled neatly (even if not using a professional).

  • Avoid heavy spray tans or excessive shimmer.

5. Footwear Matters

  • Barefoot works beautifully for certain styles.

  • If wearing shoes, opt for vintage or classic styles.
